Taste Not Waste Chefs’ Competition

The UK hospitality sector wastes one million tonnes of food every year. That’s one in six meals going in the bin, three quarters of which is still edible! As well as diverting good food from those in need, food waste also contributes to climate change and wider environmental issues like water scarcity and energy consumption. 

Our ‘Taste Not Waste’ competition challenges chefs from restaurants, cafes and caterers across Cambridge to conjure up a delicious main course or dessert, based on what would normally go to waste in your venue’s kitchen. 

The winning recipe will be chosen by Tristan Welch, Chef Director at Parker’s Tavern and the winner will receive a prize of a weekday lunch for two at the city’s first zero-food waste cafe, Cambridge Cookery! Yum. The winning dish will also be promoted on social media and as part of a ‘Taste Not Waste’ recipe book. 

To enter the competition email gemma@cambridgesustainablefood.org by 5pm on Wednesday 17th April 2019 with the following details: 

  • Name of your recipe

  • Ingredients

  • Method 

  • Colour photo or video of your dish

  • Your name 

  • Your phone number and email address

  • Your restaurant, café or business name.
