Geo Cache Veggie Treasure Hunt

Historyworks and Cambridge Sustainable Food team up to bring you Vegetable Geocaching!

If you and your kids love a good treasure hunt, then you will love geocaching. Go on an adventure around significant places of interest nearby the route of the new Chisholm Trail while looking for our hidden vegetable surprises!

Our Veg Fest trail will have a historical theme, taking you to wonderful locations close to the River Cam and Stourbridge Meadows, once the site of the famous international fair from the medieval period onwards called ‘Stourbridge Fair’. Here rich and poor ate tons of oysters and bread, the equivalent of fish and chips today. You can still find oyster shells in the Riverside neighbourhood and street names dating back to the layout of Stourbridge Fair stalls, such as Oyster Row and Garlic Row.

We will share co-ordinates of geocaches - treasure boxes scattered around our Cambridge trail. In them you'll find prizes and fun facts about veg. An activity for the whole family to enjoy!

All you need is a GPS-enabled mobile phone or GPS device so that you can find the treasure. Visit www.creatingmycambridge.com/events/ between 13th and 20th July to find out the coordinates of the treasure boxes and start your adventure!

We are looking for volunteers to help with monitoring and refilling the treasure boxes from 13th to 20th July. If you can help, please sign up here
