Growing your own food plays a key role in building a resilient and sustainable local food system. It puts you in control of how and what you grow and can be a great way to connect to nature and the local community. It’s also a great way to try to learn new skills in your organisation that benefit both your physical and mental wellbeing.

Try creating a space within your workplace to exercise your green fingers, whether it’s some herb pots on the windowsill or a small veg patch outside and be part of a good food future in Cambridge.

Actions your organisation could take

  • Give yourself a lunchtime treat - grow veg in pots inside your office.

  • Have food waste compost caddies for your unavoidable food waste.

  • Use the space outside your building to create a space for growing food.

  • Support a community growing project.

  • Donate your surplus to Cambridge’s community food hubs, as part of our Grow a Row scheme.
