Food4Food Catering Service

Food4Food Catering Service have achieved a Silver Award for their commitment to providing healthy food, and their highly effective waste management. Rachel Newell was presented with the award by Cllr Jeremy Benstead, Mayor of Cambridge, on 2nd March 2017, at CSF’s Pledge and Award Scheme Launch Event.

At Food4Food, virtually no food is wasted. Any left over food is brought back to Wintercomfort and shared out to their service users. They also help to reduce food waste through their procurement methods, since they receive donations from Marks and Spencer, Tesco’s and elsewhere. They have collection for general waste, recycled waste and compostable waste – even their waste oil is collected to be transformed into biofuel. What’s more, compostable cardboard platter trays are used for buffets and compostable takeaway boxes are used in the café.

They are currently in the process of signing up to the ‘Healthier Options’ Scheme, demonstrating their commitment to providing a catering service that reduces the use of sugars, saturated fats and salt in its cooking. Food4Food Catering Service are signed up to the Sustainable Fish Campaign, and have introduced the living wage to their business model.
