Community Food

Grass roots energy, innovation and action are the engine of positive change and it is vital that individuals and communities can build the knowledge, skills, resources and projects to make that change happen.

Community food, food justice and building a resilient food system, are all key aspects of our work in Cambridge, alongside many community organisations and volunteers. Together we focus on building community skills, ensuring everyone has access to healthy and affordable food, and tackling the root causes of food insecurity in the city.

By including all community voices in our work we hope to build a food system in Cambridge where everyone can be actively involved and access healthy, sustainable and affordable food. We are always looking for individuals to join the good food movement and help be part of this positive change in Cambridge. Explore how you can get involved in community food below.

Actions you can take

  • Become a CSF volunteer - we have a wide variety of volunteer options; from preparing holiday lunches, to collection surplus food from local supermarkets, to helping out at stalls

  • Help out at your local community food hub, see locations here.

  • Donate surplus homegrown veggies to one of Cambridge’s 9 community food hubs as part of our Grow a Row schemes

  • Join a community growing project or get involved in a community food waste project, supporting the local community access food that otherwise would have gone to waste
